"I will praise you O Lord, with my whole heart;
I will tell of all Your marvelous works.
I will be glad and rejoice in You;
I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High."
Several things strike me about these verses:
1. "With my whole heart" - wow! Our hearts are so desperately wicked, we don't even know the depths of our own sin. And yet, God sees our desires, He sees Jesus' righteousness credited to our account. My desire is that my whole heart praises God, but there is so often a rebellious part of it that wants my own way. May we beg God every day to purify our hearts!
2. "I will" - sometimes you have to make yourself do it:) "I will praise You" - even when I'm discouraged. "I will praise tell of Your marvelous works" - even when I don't understand what You're doing. "I will be glad and rejoice in You"- even when the world's pleasures are tempting. "I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High" - because no matter what I'm facing YOU ARE THE SAME, YOU ARE WORTHY TO BE PRAISED!

The JOY of Christmas!
"There are many who say, "Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O LORD! You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound." Psalm 4:6-7
You can have more true joy than unbelievers can even imagine. They cling to false joy, which is gone in the morning and they are left with a bitter taste of emptiness. But we can have true joy! Joy and happiness come from a relationship with Jesus Christ and life with Him!The Christmas season can truly be the "most wonderful time of the year"- full of true joy!

The Great Light!
Light is a HUGE part of Christmas and for good reason: JESUS IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD!
Meditate on these verses and praise Him for being our light!
"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined." - Isaiah 9:2
"At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, becausethe darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining." 1 John 2:8
"In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." John 1:4-5
"Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12
"But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." 2 Cor 4:3-4, 6

Psalm 25:8-10, 14
Psalm 25 is an amazing psalm--such an encouragement! Verses 8-10 and 14 jumped out at me today...
"Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies...The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant."
Notice the transition from "sinners" to "humble" to "those who keep His covenant" to "fear Him" and "friendship"! How wonderful! Reminiscent of Ephesians 2 --we were enemies and aliens, but THROUGH CHRIST we have peace, reconciliation and friendship. We are now HIS CHILDREN!
May we never cease to marvel at where we were before we were reconciled and our position now!

Verse of the Week
"O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. For His mercy endures forever." Psalm 118:1
We have so many things to be thankful for! But above all, we should be thankful for Who God is!! His attributes are not just what He is like, they are who HE IS. He IS Goodness. He IS Mercy. He IS Faithfulness. He IS Patience. He IS Love.
And His mercies toward us never fail; they are new every morning! Great is His Faithfulness!
